College Schmollege

Daily writing prompt
Are you a lifelong learner?

“Pirating college” is when I get my hands on the syllabus for a uPenn creative writing class, purchase or borrow all the books, and attempt to do every assignment on my own.

I never finished college. That being said, I’m still in an MFA program now. I figured if I kept bothering them they’d either let me in or get a restraining order, and I was lucky enough they did the first.

Before leaving for my residency, there was this sour, heavy feeling omnipresent in my gut. I wouldn’t know enough, be enough. I wasn’t coming from the same experiences. All of them with that piece of interim paper between high school and here had also acquired something huge, grown in some unattainable-to-me way that I could never catch up with.

Class started. The teachers talked, I talked, my classmates talked. My soul fucking sank its teeth in.

Finally! Here they are! People just as fixated on this typing thing as I am!

Just got my grades back.

4.0 GPA.

Get wrecked.
