Had to? Had to?
Here’s all I’d get if I had infinite money:
The UFO
For years now I’ve had this image of a crashed UFO sleeve. It’ll be just the shell, the whole thing really decimated by nature, overgrown with all these vines, rusted and soft with moss. The inside will have all these luminescent looking mushrooms in it. Most importantly, if you look closely, the curled up bones of an alien.
The City
I’ve been drawing this odd city since I was kiddo and saw Mirrormask for the first time and the idea of my own private charcoal world took over my brain. It’s a simple black and white stark scribbly thing, and I think I’d get it on my forearm so I could look down on it. Originally it had plumes of smoke rising from it, but I think what I’d do now is a kind of chunky line-art starkness for the city with watercolor overgrowth all through it.
The Tesseract
On my ring finger. And yes, it’s because of A Wrinkle in Time.
The Eye
On the back of my neck. Simple, straight-forward, stark line art. Husband is opposed for obvious reasons, but I still might get it.
The Tattoo That Will Happen if I Have to Write Till My Fingers Bleed
I have this plan.
On my left ankle there’s a dagger. There’s a story there; it’s another blog post. But on my left ankle is a dagger. On my right — and I’m saying this as a severe anti-capitalist — I want to tattoo logos. Specifically, a single small logo for each imprint/press that publishes one of my books. One for each book, so repeats are possible.
I don’t know why I believe it’s so possible. I guess because I’ve made it this far, and I’m going to keep writing anyway. I write a lot. Eventually I’ll make it that far, too.
